In the meantime you can check out this Costa Rican based company that Melana and I found. The Banana Paper Company is a company that makes paper from... wait for it... Bananas! Well, not bananas, but from agro-waste from banana plantations. Seeing as banana production is one of the nastier agro-industries out there, it's nice to see that there's a company capitalizing on the opportunity to create a quality product from the waste.
The paper is both acid and tree free and is really nice to look at. I'll be looking at them closely to see if they have any contradictory policies. Until then, feel free to support Costa Rica and their rainforests by checking out their website here.
